We are here to share with you some secrects when planning your next trip!
Pisa is home to one of the most iconic land marks in all of Italy. But the reality is that once you get to the city of Pisa there isn’t much more there besides visiting the Tower and the church right next to the tower.

A couple things to make your experience a little more involved. When you go to visit the leaning tower there is an option to climb to the top of the tower. I personally did not do that because its tiring to go up all of those flights of stairs. BUT- there is a store/gift shop right next to the building, if you go up to the floor with the cafe on it. Ask to sit outside, you will have a beautiful view of the leaning tower while you enjoy a lunch, snack or drink.
But that is not the main secret that I am talking about. Prior to visiting Pisa I looked into things to do then realized how close to the beach we would be. So, after visiting the tower we took a 20 minute train ride to Viareggio. Once we arrived at the train station in Viareggio it was about a 20-25 minute to the boardwalk/beach area. Viareggio is home to carnival which is a huge winter festival that happens every year. The carnival happens in other places around Italy-including Venice.
Upon arriving to the town it was on the quieter side due to the fact that it was a winter month that we were visiting, but a few shops were still open. One of which was a shop selling waffles with nutella on them which was very delicious. After having a snack we spent some time sitting on the beach and just enjoying the view. There are mountains right next to the water so it was nice to just sit and enjoy the quiet compared to the sirens and hustle of living in Florence.

The entire walk to the beach from the train station, I noticed that there were orange trees that lined the street. I think in the warmer months this town has more to offer but even in the off season, its great!
Until Next time-safe travels,
The Wanderer
