Discovering what the experience of traveling gives to you.
I know for me travel gives me many things. I think to some extent travel gives me peace. Many people find stress in travel. Between planning, booking, the journey to actually get to the destination-everything can be stressful. But for me I think there are so many more parts to enjoy than just arriving at the final destination.
Perspective changes as you travel from country to country. I traveled to Colombia, and my experience there was much differnt than my experience in Monaco. I mean you would expect that. Both places are amazing in their own ways. But the carne asada I had in Colombia was so much tastier than my chickpea salad I had in Monaco. Mind you it cost $3 for the carne asada and $50 for the chickpea salad. I only ordered that because it was the cheapest thing on the menu at the restaurant in Monaco.
I travel for all of the senses that travel stimulates. The smell around 7pm that would flood the streets of Italy with simmering pasta sauce was something that would lead me to just stop and stand in the middle of the street enjoying the air on my walk home from school. The taste of ingredients that varies from country to country, from spice to sweetness. How lucky are we to experience all of that?
If you have read this far I would love to know what travel gives you? Comment it below, maybe we have a shared experience in a location.
Travel gives me an understanding of history, not just on events, but the ways of the world, why people act the way that they do, how humanity has gotten to the point that its at today.
How lucky are we to wander? Thats the beauty of it. We can move from location to location taking a token from each place to the next contributing to the path that we take.
I travel for the memories. The stories that I am able to share. Whether its with my family, friends, people I meet in the future, or even the people thats on the other side of the screen reading this. I know you’re here for a reason, and I am glad you are. Sometimes I feel my travels just flow away from me. But why can’t we keep them more present?
That’s why I started The Wander Bureau Club, to share our travels together-as wanderers. So thank you for being here.
Until next time-safe travels,
The Wanderer
